The team at Neaman Plastic Surgery in Salem understands how surgical and non-surgical treatments are life-changing to many patients. In fact, a brow lift can give you a more refreshed and relaxed appearance. It removes those horizontal lines from across the forehead as well as the deep-set wrinkle that tends to appear between the eyes at the bridge of the nose due to constant muscle contraction. Over time, the muscles begin to lose their strength which in turn causes these so-called “worry lines.” A brow lift raises the eyebrows to a more elevated position to erase the worry from your forehead.
A brow lift treats the following conditions:
Brow lifts are often performed with eyelid surgery, which removes excess skin and/or fat from the eyelids, to provide a smoother, more refined facial appearance from the forehead to the areas below the eyes.
There are different methods for performing a brow lift, depending on your unique condition and aesthetic desires. The most common approaches to brow lifts include endoscopic and the more traditional coronal or open method.
Brow lift treatments are typically performed under general anesthesia and can take up to two hours to complete. The exact incision pattern depends on the extent of change desired and where on the forehead the most work is being performed. Dr. Neaman and Dr. Christiansen will try when possible to place incisions in natural creases and the hairline to prevent them from being noticeable.
During an endoscopic brow lift, excess forehead tissue and fat are removed using a thin tube with a camera. It is less invasive than a traditional open brow lift which requires a larger incision usually spanning from one ear to the other.
Once the loose skin and fat are removed, the remaining tissue and muscle are recontoured to create a smooth, relaxed forehead appearance. The eyebrows are repositioned to a more aesthetically pleasing position, and the incisions are sutured shut.
Dr. Neaman and Dr. Christiansen will discuss your brow lift options with you in detail during your consultation; most patients can achieve the desired outcome with the less-invasive endoscopic method.
Some swelling and bruising can be expected following a brow lift. There may also be some tightness and sensitivity felt near the incision sites; however, these effects should subside over the next several weeks. Most patients are able to return to work within a couple weeks displaying a younger, more appealing forehead.
If you’re starting to notice visible signs of aging that include sagging or droopy eyebrows that are making you look hostile or fatigued, a brow lift may be just what you need to freshen up your appearance.
