Guide to Cosmetic Injectables

16 Feb 2016 Guide to Cosmetic Injectables

When it comes to preventing the aging process, there are multiple non-surgical procedures that can aid in keeping you looking young. With all the numerous injectables that are on the market now, it is almost impossible to keep up with the available options and their differences. At Neaman Plastic Surgery in Salem, Dr. Keith Neaman and Nurse Injector Katie Porter have been performing cosmetic injectable treatments. At the new state of the art Salem Surgical Office, Dr. Neaman and Katie Porter, RN ensure their patients have outstanding, long lasting results with their skin rejuvenation treatments. Here’s a breakdown of the FDA-approved cosmetic injectables that we offer:

BOTOX® Cosmetic: BOTOX®, also known as a “lunch-hour procedure,” because it takes very little time to perform, is FDA-approved for the following three areas: crow’s feet, forehead lines, and the wrinkles in between and around the eyes. BOTOX® is also used to temporarily remove frown lines, fine lines and other types of facial wrinkles caused by expression. The results can last for several months or longer.

Restylane®: This FDA-approved injectable reduces deep facial wrinkles and removes fine lines. This wrinkle treatment provides volume to areas of the face that have depleted over time such as the areas around the mouth and can also be used to enhance cheeks and lips.

Juvéderm®: Using Hylacross™ technology, Juvéderm® is a smoother facial filler than other injectables, causing injected sites to not appear bumpy. Juvéderm® replenishes lost volume in your face including the cheeks, chin, and lips and also provides a natural looking appearance, with results lasting up to 18 months. Dr. Neaman also offers Juvéderm Voluma™ XC for added cheek volume, and Juvéderm XL with Lidocaine to help minimize any minor discomfort.

Dysport®: This injectable is used to treat expression lines such as wrinkles and fine lines between and around the eyes, as well as the forehead. It also has the extra benefit of treating migraines, excessive sweating of the armpits, and helps relieve spasms in the neck and eye muscles. Dysport® requires no downtime and results typically last 6 months.

Radiesse®: Re-plumps smile lines, wrinkles on the cheeks, and the jowls that diminish in reaction to collagen loss caused by aging. The hylauronic acid molecules within Radiesse® address deeper wrinkles around the mouth and cheeks. The filler can also be used to address the aging of hands. Most patients have seen visible improvement in wrinkles and facial volume up to a year after their first injection.
