Are There Side Effects of Sculptra Injections?

While Sculptra is an all-natural collagen booster, there are some potential side effects of which you should be aware:

• Reactions at the site of injection: This can include redness, bruising, swelling, itching, mild pain, tenderness, and sensitivity to heat. These side effects are common and are usually mild in severity. They may last anywhere from two days to two weeks and should not cause any lasting issues. Often, these effects can be successfully controlled with over-the-counter anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medications.
• Granulomas: These are small bumps that occur underneath the skin. Within six to 12 months of the injection, a patient may develop these bumps, which may or may not be visible. Sometimes, these small bumps are permanent while in other cases, corticosteroids may clear them up.
• Infection: This is a rare side effect. Since Sculptra contains a natural collagen booster, infection and other severe complications are extremely unlikely.
